After over 20 years of owning and operating our own brand of convenience stores across Pennsylvania, Petrosoft’s business expertise is what helps us give our customers a competitive advantage. This year, Petrosoft attended our 19th National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) Annual Trade Show in Atlanta, Georgia. At the NACS show, representatives from Petrosoft were able to connect with existing customers, learn from leaders in the convenience retail industry, and illustrate to show attendees the power of people and technology winning together.
We spoke to Russell Graham, inside sales representative at Petrosoft, about these key takeaways from this year’s NACS show:
Business streamlining is a key factor.
For many retailers, business streamlining was a big factor in their conversations about technology solutions. Petrosoft’s Data Processing Services (DPS), which processes paper and EDI invoices in under 36 hours, is an essential part of Petrosoft’s product offerings. DPS has been proven to reduce time spent on paperwork by 70%, thereby streamlining business processes and saving on labor costs. For retailers concerned about their operational efficiency, DPS makes a world of difference.
“The c-store industry is all about streamlining their business,” Russell Graham, inside sales representative at Petrosoft, said. “A key aspect for us is our data processing services. The way it really resonates with [retailers] is if managers aren’t in the back, putting in invoices and spending time in the office – that is money in labor costs that can easily be reallocated back out on the floor.”
Retailers are concerned with high-risk theft events.
Shrink is always on retailers’ minds, as losses due to theft can lead to a store shutting its doors. When asked at NACS, many retailers identified customers as the highest source of shrink. However, in observations at Petrosoft’s 20 Pennsylvania convenience stores, employee theft is the largest source of shrink, followed by vendor or customer theft. Petrosoft’s Loss Prevention Analytics was able to identify theft in our own stores, which NACS attendees were able to verify at the Petrosoft booth.
“Being able to talk about what we were able to do when we first implemented Loss Prevention Analytics into our stores – that we caught cashiers, and even a manager stealing from us—allows us to break it down and show the value of these analytics in determining high risk locations and high-risk employees,” Graham said.
Customers are seeking differentiation.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, many retailers’ top concern was keeping their businesses afloat. Now that the economic stressors of the pandemic have decreased, many retailers are more concerned with optimizing business operations. Many NACS attendees were curious about what makes Petrosoft different from our competitors, and what advantage the Petrosoft ecosystem can provide.
“We were really able to pull out our key differentiators,” said Graham. “Whether that’s owning and operating stores, data processing, [or] loss prevention analytics. It’s what separated us out from everyone surrounding us.”
