Born Behind the Counter
Petrosoft wasn’t created by tech theorists trying to guess what retail operators need. It started with a software engineer working behind a register.
When founder Sergei Gorloff arrived in America in 1991 with around $7 and very little English, he took the only job he could find: pumping gas. What began as temporary work turned into an operational journey. He worked his way through every role in the business – from attendant to cashier, store manager, and eventually owner.
Before long, he was running 18 locations across five states, logging 80,000 miles of driving each year and frequently sleeping in his car between sites just to inspect operations firsthand. Because no cloud back office existed to provide a unified, real-time view of his chain, he engineered his own.
