9 Must-Haves for Convenience Business Security:
- Security camera system that can record and retrieve images
- Drop safe or cash management device
- Lighted parking
- Entrance notice “cash register contains $50 or less”
- Window signage that doesn’t block the normal line of sight of the cash register and sales transaction area
- No window tinting that reduces line-of-sight exterior or interior view
- Height markers at the entrance
- Cash management policy to limit the cash on hand at all times after 11 p.m
- Silent alarm to law enforcement or a private security agency, unless exempt
- For locations that have experienced a violent crime, they also have to choose one of the following options:
- Staff of at least two employees on the premises at all times after 11 p.m. and before 5 a.m.
- Safety enclosure for employees to use after 11 p.m. and before 5 a.m.
- On-premise security guard between 11 p.m. and before 5 a.m.
- Close the business premises between 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
